Geelong Silo

Built By: Barry Fisher

Description:

The Geelong silo was a model made to support a large exhibition display for The Annual Easter Yarra Valley Model Railway Club Exhibition in Victoria , Australia 2021. This was our first exhibition in Melbourne after the 2020 lockdown. It is a simple single with a short stub siding.

The Geelong silo is an iconic grain silo that was prolific around Victoria in the early 20th century and many of our club modellers are trying to construct them with latest 3D printing technology. This version under construction uses the classic cardboard tubes.

The silo is made on a small Cardboard plinth; hopefully by next year another plinth will be constructed with a silo constructed to a higher stage. This should allow a change on view during an exhibition.

Constructed: March 2021
