Description:A fully operating Bascule Bridge, Quad length module to allow members into the centre operating area. with
three tracks and isolating sections automatically operating when the bridge is open.
This quad unit is secured by bolt/wingnut to the adjoining corner modules for stability on either ends of the bridge unit.
As can be seen in the last two photos, it allows an opening of 700mm.
When closing the bascule bridge it aligns with the opposite bridge member.
Switching is open circuit when the bridge is open, preventing trains from proceeding the last 300mm on both sides.
When closed, all three tracks are automatically closed circuit switched, allowing all trains to proceed over
the bridge.
In normal exhibition running, operators watch the trains position before lifting the bridge, and after passing through,
they close the bridge, visually checking that the unit is fully closed.
An air strut is used to keep the bridge in the open position, as well assisting in locking it in the closed position.
Three tracks was quite a challange. The tracks are soldered to adjustable screws to keep in perfect position.
For the last six months, our members have had no problems with this interesting special project, and it has
saved many of our old backs from crawling under the tracks to get to the operating positions.
Measurements are Quad length 1240mm, with the tracks set 1mm inside each end to allow for securing to the
adjacent T-Trak modules.
A future modification could be signal lights to all tracks.
